Nem mais, seguido de um artigo onde se explica esta afirmação - esta escolha, de ser uma das bandas/músicos da década, no fundo.

Entrevista com Dave Elitch

É algo extensa, mas vale muito a pena porque se fica a perceber muito bem o que ali vai. Nele próprio, na banda, nos caminhos que já se percorreram e que estão para fazer. Vou apenas citar algumas partes, o resto leiam AQUI. Tal como achava - eu, pelo menos - não está confirmado que seja ele o próximo baterista dos TMV. Para já é-o apenas até ao final da Tour Australiana.

"I knew their first album, De-Loused in the Comatorium, fairly well so we [ele e o Juan] jammed mostly on that. After the jam he asked me if I wanted to do the gig.
Over the next two weeks, he came over to the studio several of times a week where we jammed, went through songs and I eventually went down to Omar’s house in Mexico. Omar, Juan and I rehearsed for about 5 days and then came back to LA. At that point I hadn’t even met Ikey, Marcel or Cedric! When we got to Amsterdam, it was the first time I’d met the whole band. We had two rehearsals with the entire band, went through all the songs twice and that was it. Then we were playing the first live show."

"I was in Manhattan last year doing a clinic at The Collective (aka The Drummers Collective). While I was out there, I got a chance to jam with Ben and Liam from the Dillinger Escape Plan. I had to learn about 6 songs for them and that was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done - really difficult."

"I was going to have an extra floor tom on my left and tape the notes to the drum with a light on there so I could see everything while we were playing. We got to rehearsals and I set the notes up and Juan was like, “What are you doing?” I was like, “I was just going to……” and he said, “No, get that shit outta here! You don’t need that!” So the first show was fun! There were a couple of minor things here and there but it was just surreal."

Micro entrevista com Ikey

Tem pouco mais de duas semanas, pode-se ler NESTE artigo e só tem duas perguntas.

Mas numa delas pode-se ler: "Basically, in the Mars Volta, my role is as a live keyboard player. I have little to nothing to do with the records at all. (...) In the Mars Volta, there's not a lot of creative interaction, but it's good to have both outlets as a musician."

Nada de novo, mas é a ideia que saltou com o Thomas.

Thomas Pridgen abandonou mesmo a banda

Como muitos já sabiam a notícia confirmou-se, mesmo que ainda não tenha sido publicada em nenhum local oficial - site da banda, myspace, etc, etc. Foi no Facebook que o próprio Thomas Pridgen anunciou que não tocaria mais com a banda, terminada a tour americana de Agosto/Setembro/Outubro passados. Afirmou também que vai começar uma banda com um amigo e que está farto de ser um empregado.

Para já é Gene Coye que se encontra na pole-position para o importante banquinho, já que aos rumores se acrescenta a actuação com os Vato Negro.

E por daqui a uma semana? Quem vão ter eles como baterista?

Três curtas para desenjoar

Há video para uma das músicas do Xenophanes - Asco Que Conmueve los Puntos Erógenos - mas para já ainda estamos num coming soon.

O twitter da Sargent House dizia que o album do El Trio de Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, La Ciencia de los Inutiles, tem saída prevista para Janeiro de 2010.

Os Vato Negro tinham concerto marcado para o Key Club de Hollywood, inserido numa homenagem a Charlie Haden (baixista, notável pelo trabalho com Ornette Coleman) e a Rocco Prestia (baixista, notável pelo seu trabalho nos Tower of Power). Nessa noite, os Vato Negro seriam Juan, Omar e Thomas Pridgen, tendo este último sido substituído à última hora por Gene Coye. Há um video AQUI, de onde podem fazer o download da actuação.

Solar Gambling

Mais um album do ORL5 (que são 6), tem data marcada para dia 28 de Dezembro. Vai ser lançado em versão digital e em vinyl, edição limitada de 1500.

Como podem ver há algumas canções já tocadas ao vivo, nomeadamente na tour europeia do ORL5, que só agora são lançadas em versão de estudio. A banda que gravou este album é a mesma que gravou os últimos dois.

Novidades do Cinema de Omar

O filme The Sentimental Engine Slayer já tem data e local de estreia marcada: 5 de Fevereiro de 2010, no Festival de Cinema de Roterdão. Faz parte da selecção oficial do festival.

Circula também uma sinopse:
The Sentimental Engine Slayer tells the compelling, confounding tale of the overdue coming of age of a twenty-something misfit named Barlam. Barlam's awkward transition from boy to man is as much the story of struggling to find one's essence in a world of stereotypes as it is an indictment of the distorted reality of family life in the disengaged 21st century. A bottom-rung grocery bagger whose neo-incestuous relationship with his addict sister, Natalia, causes him no small amount of grief and disillusionment, Barlam seeks solace in the convoluted wisdom of what few male peers are available, namely his androgynous, alcoholic boss, Oscar, and the sister's simple-minded boyfriend, Zack. Seeking an explanation as to the strange circumstances of his apparent lack of family structure, as well as the respect from others fundamentally absent in his mundane model-building existence, Barlam is soon led astray amid a seedy underworld of prostitutes, hustlers and addicts. The labyrinthine plot soon begs questioning as to where reality ends and fantasy begins, Barlam shifting effortlessly between hapless punching bag, assertive surrogate father figure, and rage-prone psychopath.

Música sem Prazo de Validade

Que grande senhor este. A mostrar por A + B que a música é suposto ser ouvida e apreciada por todos, independentemente da idade que se tenha.

Segundo o autor deste fabuloso vídeo, o senhor em questão tinha vestida uma t-shirt dos TMV. O mesmo achou muito estranha a presença de um senhor daquela idade num concerto dos The Mars Volta e num tom de gozo perguntou "Are you ready?". O senhor, de idade e nome desconhecidos, rematou a pergunta com uma outra: "Are you?"

Após esta conversa só Deus sabe o que aconteceu a este homem, mas dou-me por satisfeito em ter visto apenas 22 segundos da sua vida.

Pergunto-me, será que foi assim o concerto todo?
